Behind every great project, there’s a crazy story.
One night, three weeks before Ramadan in 2020 a friend of mine called after midnight asking “wouldn’t it be cool if we had a radio during Ramadan where the hosts would be able to talk about the topic they want to?” As crazy as the idea sounded taking in count it happenned only three weeks before the radio was supposed to be launched, few days later we already had the team and so Ramadan Radio came to life.
What is a month long radio made out of?
Managering.
In both 2020 and 2021 the main goal we had in producing the Ramadan Radio was to give the youth the power to talk about any topics they wanted to. As a manageri the main role I had was to bond with the hosts, get to know them and know what interests them and help them find the topics that interests them. Affter that is done, I kept in touch with everyone of our incridible team making sure it’s rolling.
Hosting.
In both seasons I have also hosted my own programs. Hosting has been an interesting journey teaching ourselves too. 2020 we talked about women as rolemodels for a change in a Finnish program Naiset kautta aikain. 2021 we had an interactive program which was bilingual, where our audiance decided what they wanted us to talk about.

Studying.
No project is good without a study on what can be improved and what should be done better next time. In 2020 I made a report on the leadership of this project ending up with the conclusion the two persons doing both the managering and being responsible for the marketing was not a good way of leading and may have confussed the hosts too. Learning from it, in 2021 we made different teams and we did not put the same person as the head of more than one team nor did we put more than one ream lead for each team. We learned and grew, both as individuals and as a project.
